easter 2014

Easter morning after we were all ready for church I let the boys dig into their Easter Baskets.  I'm all about being practical and getting them things they need rather than a bunch of junk for the $$ section at Target or candy.

Nash's basket included: a SwaddleMe blanket, rice cereal, packs, a few rattle toys, a swimsuit & rash guard, and 2 paci clips.
Pearson's basket included: A devotional, new brown sandals, two new "big boy" water bottles, and a new outfit for school.
Pearson was soooooooo excited about digging into his Easter basket.
Nash was just chill in'.  He didn't know what to think!
After Pearson looked at each thing from his basket he started pulling out Nash's stuff.  It was so cute because he would show him each item by putting it right in front of his face.
At the end opening everything, poor Nash had a big pile of stuff all on his lap.
Oh, how I love these boys!!
Before we headed to church we took a few pictures.  I didn't bother taking a family picture because I knew we would get one later at church and at my parents house.
Our church had 11 stations set up around the church where we could get a free family photo.  I'm thankful our church does neat things like this.
After church we headed to my parents house for lunch with the whole family.  While we were waiting for all the food to be ready, Pearson enjoyed playing with my cousin, Mikel.
Lunch was absolutely fabulous.  We had a feast of roast, ham, German potato salad, broccoli rice casserole, baked beans, salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, and even more things that I can't even think of!  For dessert we had strawberry shortcake, banana pudding, and most importantly Easter themed Jello Jigglers.
Sweet Nash got lots of loving' from everybody there.  He got to meet two of my aunts and uncles for the first time!!
Once lunch was all cleaned up, these two cuties were ready for the egg hunt.
After a school egg hunt, the DMB egg hunt, our neighborhood egg hunt and multiple egg hunts in our living room, Pearson knew exactly what to do!!
He loved shaking them to see what was inside because some of them have coins in them!!
Lolly had a specific kind of egg that each kid had to find.  Carson had the baseball eggs, Olivia had the polka dot eggs and Pearson had the shiny eggs.
There were also plain eggs that all the kids could find.  Pearson found quite a few!!  He had so much fun!!
Maybe next year Nash will be toddling around and hunting Easter eggs with us, but this year he enjoyed some snuggles from Oma!
After the kids found all the eggs Lolly and Pops had a little Easter bag for all of the kiddos.  Both boys got a swimsuit for this summer and Pearson got a few other little goodies!!
We enjoyed our afternoon with our family.
We enjoyed our afternoon so much that we stayed until almost 4pm, which is way past Pearson's nap time.  Since Pearson had a few new things to play with from his Easter basket, we opted for no nap and a 6:45 bedtime.  Pearson crashed!!

#thelinkhomeeveryday2014 {week 16}

{Day 106}
 Doing some major catching up on the blog.  I'm having the hardest time finding time to blog.  I still have a few more posts I need to get up and hopefully I'll be completely caught up by the end of this week!!

{Day 107}
My little chunky monkey is about to be too big to model Tried and True Designs homecoming outfits.  No worries though, his modeling days aren't over…….he'll just about big enough to start modeling bibs!

{Day 108}
There is a possibility that I might have bribed him with ice cream so he would cooperate for our annual pictures in the bluebonnets.  I'll be posting our pics later this week!

{Day 109}
Late night conversations with Daddy.  I just love that he is starting to smile and "talk" to us.  It's the sweetest thing ever.

{Day 110}
I loved our coordinating Easter outfits.  And of course I LOVE these two sweet boys!!

{Day 111}
Even though his room is a mess, I'm so thankful that Pearson plays so well independently.

{Day 112}
Perfect park weather! Pearson got to scoot to the park for the first time and Nash got to ride in the big boy carseat for the first time!!

golden grip

A few weeks ago we went to a new little gymnastics place called Golden Grip.  They have an open gym time for kids 5 and under for $8. ($5 if you get a Moms group together)  I was soooooooo worth the $5.  The entire gym is padded so the kids just bounced and ran and climbed all around.  My girlfriends and I just found a spot in the middle of the gym and laid the babies on their blankets.  The babies slept, the kids played and the mommies chatted………what a perfect morning!!
We loved it so much that we are heading back there again tomorrow!!

there's more to Easter than the eggs

On Saturday, we went to our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt.

While I'm pretty sure Pearson had a great time, I think this will be our last year to attend the festivities.
Both last year and this year, it was filled with angry parents.  Parents complaining about not being able to help their kids hunt eggs since it was no parents allowed, parents complaining about it not starting on time, and parents complaining about their kids not getting any eggs.  Really…..is an egg hunt really all that big of a deal???   Do our kids really NEED all that candy?  Who cares if they leave empty handed if they had fun!!  Plus, our child had no patience and didn't understand that we had to wait until the buzzer went off to hunt eggs.
I'm incredibly thankful that Easter is about so much more than Easter eggs.  It's about celebrating that Jesus conquered death and is risen!!
I pray that we can teach Pearson and Nash the real meaning of Easter and show them why we really celebrate it!

pearson {34 months}

I can't believe you are two months away from being THREE.  Three has always seemed like such a big kid age to me, but now that we are here you are still my baby.  I guess it doesn't help that you still sleep in your crib, wear diapers, and have a paci at nap time.  We've got to work on those things so you can be a real big boy for your 3rd birthday.  I would like to have the diapers and paci gone by three, but I'm totally okay with you sleeping in your crib as long as you are okay with it!!  Just like last month, you have continued to adjust well to being a big brother.  You really and truly love Nash so much.  You can't keep your hands off of him and you always want to be close to him…….sometimes too close!!  We occasionally have little crying fits over the silliest things, but overall you are such a sweet boy.  I feel like we have been so lucky with the "terrible two's".
  • This month you got sick twice.  You had pink eye and you got a stomach bug.
  • You love to watch Super Why!  Anytime you see words or letters you tell us "I have spelling power!"
  • We went the the neighborhood Garage Sales a few weeks ago.  While we were driving around you kept saying saying "There's another Garage SELF".
  • After nursing Nash one day I had leaked and had a little wet spot on my shirt.  Pearson asked me what was on my shirt.  I told him it was milk.  He responded "Mommy's got milk!"
  • You pooped in the bathtub for the first time.  Ugh!!!
  • You love to try to make Nash talk by saying "Ooooo" or "Ga-gah".  One day I was burping Nash and he burped really loud.  You immediately said, "Mommy, he's talking to me!"
  • For the last few weeks you have been going tee-tee in the potty at least once a day.  Your reward for going in the potty is either an M&M or a marshmallow.  The other day after you tee-teed you said "I get a mushroom!"
  • You love to do "Tummy Times" with Nash.
  • One day when you were in the bath tub you said, "I washin' my penis.  P is for penis." Oh boy!!!
  • You can spell all of your color words and this month I discovered that you know most of your colors in Spanish too! You must pay attention in Spanish class at school!!
  • For some reason you call Nash "Needy Nash".  I have never called him needy and I don't even know if you know what that word means, but you call him that all the time.  It's so funny!
  • Every morning you ask me "Where we going?".  You love to go places, whether it be to school, church, a playdate or even the grocery store.
  • If we are out of some sort of food, you always tell me "We get more at Wal-Mart!"
  • You are obsessed with your little stools.  The main uses for it are your tool bench and brushing your teeth, but I almost always find one in Nash's room because you love to stand on it while I change his diaper or to look in his crib.
  • When you sing the BLUE song you always say "Bee-F-Uh-Me spells blue" instead of B-L-U-E.  We have told you over and over again what  you say but you always say it wrong!

DMB easter egg hunt

Dallas Moms Blog held their First Annual Egg Hunt at Huffhines Park this year.  I wasn't required to work the event, but since we were there I volunteered some of time.  Matt and Pearson played in the park while I worked.  I finished working just in time for the 2 year old egg hunt.
This egg hunt was awesome because not only were there eggs filled with candy, but there were bags of Pirate's Booty and Squeezy Pouches!
My smart boy filled the majority of his basket with the big items and kind of skipped over the eggs!!!
While we were there we also got to decorate a cupcake.
We took it home in a little to go bag so we could eat it after lunch.
We kept seeing kids with their face painted.  I really wanted Pearson to get it done because it was free, but I just didn't think he would want to.  I asked him and sure enough, he proved me wrong.  He said he wanted it done and he sat perfectly still while she painted his face.  I couldn't believe it!!!
It was absolutely adorable watching him look at himself in the mirror.  It was like he didn't even recognize himself.
It was SO cold so we didn't take Nash out of his carseat for our family picture.
The Easter Bunny made an appearance at the Egg Hunt.  We don't really talk about the Easter Bunny at home so he wasn't all that impressed.  We were also all getting over the stomach bug, so I think he just didn't quite feel 100% while we were there.
We played in the park for a little bit longer while we waited for the winners of all the raffles to be announced.  We didn't win anything but we sure had a good time.
And of course Nash slept through the entire thing!!!
I'm already looking forward to next year's DMB Easter Egg Hunt!
