perot museum

This morning we decided to have a family day out!!  We went to the Perot Museum.
We got there around 10:45 but didn't get to actually go in until 11:45.  I should have done a little research and realized that we could have (and should have) bought our tickets online.
Thankfully the hour of waiting wasn't too bad.  We walked through the gift shop then explored some of the things outside.
Pearson loved playing with all of the chimes outside.
Once we got inside, we went straight to the top floor and worked our way down to the bottom floor (which had the Children's Museum).  We knew that if we let him out of the stroller at the beginning we would have a hard time getting him back in for the rest of the museum.
I had no idea how he would act in the museum, but he did really great! He just sat in his stroller and looked at everything while Matt and I read things and looked at all of the exhibits.
The last floor before we got to the Children's Museum looked the neatest, but we didn't get to spend much time there.  It was all about the human body and energy and had lots of interactive things to do.  Sadly, we were getting hungry and we could tell Pearson was starting to get ready to get out, so we just spun through it and headed to the Children's Museum.
As soon as we got to the kid's area he started trying to get out of his stroller and was saying "Pway".  He was ready to go play!!  We didn't get any smiles out of him, but he would have stayed at the water table forever if we would have let him.  He loved it!!
Next up was the little construction play area.  He jumped right in and helped the boys and girls move the little blocks up the ramp.
When we took the dress up clothes off to go to another area, he put them right back on.  He wasn't ready to go!
He picked up some bananas (or as he has been saying lately....co-nanas) at the farmer's market.
Then we ended our afternoon at the museum picking some flowers.
Even though it was crowded and we had to wait a little while to get it, I'm glad we got to do this as a family.  I get to do fun things all week long while I'm home with Pearson, so it's fun to let Matt join in on the fun on the weekends.

We didn't leave the museum until 1:30 so we were all starving for lunch! We decided to go to the Jake's in Uptown.  This is the Jake's where Matt and I had our second date so it was fun to go back!!
Only this time we had the cutest little tag-a-long joining us!!
So thankful for my boys and a fun family day together!!!

a busy day with my peeps

Today was my first day to watch all three girls (plus Pearson).  Normally I just have the two little ones during the day, but the oldest is out of school now!  I'm going to try to have fun things planned for us to go do in the morning together.  It helps pass the time and it wears the little ones out so they take great afternoon naps.

This morning we went to Chick-fil-A for breakfast.  They were giving away free chicken biscuits, so we all ate for $3.56.  Ya can't beat that!!
After they finished eating they all played in the little play area.  All the girls like to climb up to the top and play but Pearson doesn't like to go to the top.  He met some little boys to play with and had a ball running around with them.
Normally I take the little ones to our local library for Story Time, but today we decided to go to the Story Time put on by Chick-fil-A at the mall.  The girls had so much fun pushing Pearson and Lexi around in the strollers.
Pearson loved all the new songs and really enjoyed waving his flag around while we sang the patriotic songs.

Isn't his little baseball/patriotic shirt that Lolly made for him so cute??
The best part about Story Time was that the kids got Chick-fil-A nuggets for "snack".  It was a 6 count around 10:45, so we just considered it our lunch.  We just snacked on some fruit and crackers when we got home.
While the littles took FOUR hr naps, the bigs read and I played Candy Crush.  I had been stuck on Level 65 for about a week and as soon as I posted this picture on Instagram I beat it! Now I'm stuck on Level 70.  Our afternoon was also filled with some arts and crafts, Barbies, American Girl Dolls, and a Movie.
Once Pearson and Lexi woke up we all sat down at the table for a snack and some coloring.
One of Pearson's favorite things at the girl's house is jumping on their little trampoline.
He absolutely loves all three of the girls (Kate-Kate, Am-Bah, & Essie).
I am so thankful for this fun little side job that I have been blessed with.

grammy's surprise 60th

We were so busy last weekend.  I feel like I'm still catching up on rest from all of our fun activities.  Friday night we went to the Carnival, Saturday night I had my High School Reunion (blog post to come), and Sunday night we had a Surprise Party for Grammy's 60th Birthday.
To say Grammy was surprise would be an understatement.  She had absolutely no idea this was in the works and was totally surprised.

The restaurant closed at 3pm, so we had the whole restaurant to ourselves.  My parents even joined us for the occasion!

Grandaddy did such a good job planning the party.  He got such a pretty birthday cake.  Pearson kept walking by it and saying "tup-take".

The wait staff also did a great job taking care of our crazy crew and helping make  Grammy's 60th Birthday Party so fun!!
Since we were the only ones in the restaurant, Pearson ran around like a crazy man.  Matt and I had to tag team who chased him because he was all over the place.  We may never get to go out to eat again because he's going to think he can just run around.
 Grammy with her three kiddos.
Happy Birthday Grammy from all of us!!

carnival fail

My parent's church just finished the same VBS theme that we did at our church last week, Colossal Coaster World.  The cool thing about their church is that they had an actual Carnival come to the church as a finale to VBS week.
Growing up we never really went to Carnivals.  My parents didn't like to waste their money on the rides, games and food and I have a weak stomach so most of the rides don't even sound fun to me.  I kind of feel the same way now as my parents did then. They really are such a waste of money.  My parents had 20 free tickets though, so we had to come check it out!!

The theme to VBS this year was "Facing Fear! Trusting God!".  The theme verse was "For God has not given us a spirt of fearfulness, but one of power love and sound judgement." 2 Timothy 1:7
Apparently, Pearson didn't learn to face his fears at VBS because he was terrified of all of the rides!!
Major Carnival Fail!!!
Before it was our turn on the carousel, Pearson was naming all of the animals.
Elephant, Chicken, Giraffe, Dog, Monkey, etc.
But when it came time to get on it, he was a mess!!
He was much happier to just be a looker.
Mom and I were positive that he would love to ride these little cars.  They went round and round and even had their own steering wheel and horn.  This kid loves cars and trucks so we knew he would love doing this.  NOPE......started  screaming bloody murder when we tried to put him in a car.  He was happy as can be just looking at the cars and watching the kids in them.

We also tried to ride a little helicopter, but as you can see he hated it too!!
Thankfully since he never made it on the rides we got our tickets back each time.
We couldn't come to the Carnival without riding a single ride (especially since we had 20 tickets to use), so Matt and Pearson went down the Fun Slide.  We figured that once you started this ride, you had to finish it, so we made him do it! Ha! We are awesome parents, huh?
He seemed a little unsure of it up top.  Close to the end he kind of looked like he liked it.
But at the end he gave us a big smile.  I'm pretty sure he liked it!!
After getting out of the stroller for the slide, there was no going back.  He wanted to walk with Daddy!
Who needs rides when you can just push around your stroller.  That was enough fun for this little two year old!
Since we only spent a few of our tickets on the slide, we decided to check out the fun house.  I had never done one, can you believe it??
This picture of my Dad and Matt cracks me up.
Pearson hung out with Lolly while we did the fun house.  We tried to get him to look up at us but I think he was staring at the door we went in to, waiting for us to come out.
Check out my Dad going down the slide! It was actually a really fast slide!!
He was so happy to see us all when we got out.  Wish he would have been this happy on all the rides we took him on.  Oh toddlers, you just never know how they are going to react to things.
Even though we didn't do much at the Carnival and all the rides for Pearson were a total fail, we still had a great night out with my parents and our little family!
Mom and Dad took Carson the night before and he had a blast, so we'll have to try out a Carnival again when he gets a little older.   However, since he wasn't really a fan this year and I've never really a been a fan, maybe we'll just stay away and save our money!!
